Relational Databases - SQL
I am familiar with several Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), including Sybase, Oracle and MySQL, and the underlying scripting language SQL, as well as with Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) in both Perl and Java.
The Protein Data Bank currently uses Sybase as its RDBMS, which I am administering and accessing through the Unix utilities isql and bcp, the Perl module Sybase::DBlib, and the PC client Sybase Central.
I completed the following first course of a UCSD Extension certificate program for the Oracle Certified Application Developer track:
Introduction to Oracle: SQL and PL/SQL (05/20-06/24/2000 – Grade: A+)
I presented a Basic MySQL Tutorial as a teaching assistant for a UCSD graduate course on Biological Data and Analysis Tools.
